France, monumental black slate mantel clock with perpetual calendar, thermometer and barometer, drumhead case with gilt, incised aesthetic ornament, brass bezel with beveled glass over Roman numeral white enamel dial, Brocot open escapement with carnelian pallets, black painted steel Breguet style hands, enamel perpetual calendar and barometer dials, the calendar with clouds and starry sky, the barometer with red 8 pointed star at center, the central thermometer mounted to a beveled glass with incurved sides and cupids bow top with conforming brass bezel, the thermometer scale engraved on the glass, square 8 day movement marked GV, striking on a bell, rear bezel set with dark violet beveled glass, c1875
CONDITION:
Case restored, dial glass with a few minor scratches, calendar glass with scratch, barometer glass with chip on back, thermometer glass very good, rear glasses for barometer and calendar missing, rear glass over movement with cracks, clock dial with numerous scratches, hands replaced, escape wheel bridge with replaced screw, calendar dial dirty, but otherwise very good, calendar hands with rust, barometer dial with hairline and some fading, otherwise very good, barometer hand with rust, movement ticks and strikes, but with some dirt and discoloration, barometer not working, calendar not functional and with dirt and tarnish, all movements would benefit from service, pendulum an incorrect replacement, Ht 23 1/4"
